Las Vegas Night Tour Options Compared
There are six ways to be shown Las Vegas after dark and they are not variations on one product. A bus, a helicopter, an open jeep, a van, a walk and a party bus buy genuinely different evenings, and picking by price alone is how people end up on the wrong one. Start with what you want from the night, not with the fare.
Open-top bus
What it is: a double-decker with the roof off, running the Strip and
downtown to recorded commentary.
Time: two to three hours.
From: $59.
Best for: a first evening, working out where everything is, and doing it
sitting down.
Not for: anyone who wants a person to talk to, or who needs collecting
from a hotel.
Helicopter flight
What it is: ten to twelve minutes airborne over the length of the
Strip, inside a booking of one to two hours.
Time: 90 minutes to two hours, most of it on the ground.
From: $99.
Best for: the one view the boulevard cannot give you, and for anyone
short of evenings.
Not for: anyone expecting a long flight, or unwilling to declare a weight
and produce original photo ID.
Open jeep and guided van
What it is: a small vehicle with a live guide that stops and walks you
around eight or nine landmarks rather than driving past them.
Time: three to four hours.
From: $103.
Best for: photographs you will keep, history, and being collected from
your hotel door.
Not for: anyone who wants to stay in a seat, or who cannot manage a
moderate amount of walking.
Walking and street-level tours
What it is: two or three hours on foot with a guide, usually with a
photographer attached; or the same ground on an electric trikke or in a sidecar.
Time: two to three hours.
From: $149.
Best for: two people, souvenir photographs, and seeing the middle of the
Strip properly.
Not for: covering distance, or anyone with back trouble on the trikke.
Club crawls and bar crawls
What it is: a party bus with a host, cover charges paid in advance and
express entry at two to four venues.
Time: four hours from an 8pm or 10pm start.
From: $85.
Best for: a group, a first Saturday here, and skipping a door queue that
can run an hour.
Not for: under-21s, anyone without physical photo ID, and anyone in a
jersey or a hat.

The starting fares in that table are the operators' own, and the fare is rarely the whole number once a cover charge, an admission or a tip is added — what to expect on the night has the arithmetic. Read the table by the "collected?" column first. Half the inventory picks you up and half starts at a fixed kerb, and it is the difference between an evening that begins at your hotel door and one that begins with a walk to 3973 LINQ Lane. Who should choose something else
If you are staying on the Strip, have comfortable shoes and only want the fountains and the conservatory, book nothing. That evening is free and it is a good one, and the no-tour guide sets out exactly how far a bus pass gets you. If you are travelling with children under 21, the nightlife half of this list is closed to you and the free shows are the better evening anyway. And if you have back or neck trouble, the open jeep and the trikke both say so in their own listings — take the van instead.
